CONDITIONS OF THE PROPERTY.

The property remained vacant for a long time. This factor contributed to its entering a state of progressive degradation.

This building is an example of vernacular architecture. It is divided into two floors: the lower floor, where the cellar and cattle ranches were located; and the upper floor, where housing was developed. This set also includes: a second body, which corresponded to the kitchen area; and a mill, which is now in ruins.

 

INTERVENTION PROPOSAL.

It is intended to requalify the existing main building and proceed with an extension of it, through an autonomous body.

In the existing building, the strategy is, by eliminating all components in a high state of degradation, to assume the structural system designed by the stone masonry walls as the organizational matrix of the space.

The lower floor will remain as a complement to the housing, hosting programs that take advantage of the specific conditions of this space.

On the upper floor, spaces for common use will develop: office, living rooms, kitchens and support spaces. A suite with bedroom, living room and sanitary installation will be installed in the eastmost source.

In the new building, the area of ​​bedrooms (3 bedrooms and 2 toilets) will be defined, which appears due to understandable issues of the program.

This new building is connected to the main structure through a small glazed body, a kind of umbilical cord.

The finishes, with regard to the pre-existing structure, will respect the initial solutions: stone masonry, plaster, wooden slats and ceramic tile.

In what constitutes a new intervention, two finishing materials will be used: glass and properly treated wood.

The proposed new body will be covered with a 10 cm wooden slat and with shutters of the same material.
